Let us discuss them so that you can keep your wigs perfect.
Washing- One should wash the human hair front lace wig or the human hair full lace wig once in a week if worn regularly. However, many women use multiple wigs, changing them at regular intervals, and then it is best to wash the wigs after 9 or 10 uses. One should have enough patience while washing the wigs. After filling the basin with cold water, add a small amount of shampoo. It is better to comb the hair before washing to detangle the strands. Make sure to comb the wig lightly; else, it might get damaged.
Dip the wig in the mixture of water and shampoo for a couple of minutes. Now gently rinse the wig using cold water and softly squeeze the strands to remove the excess water. Get a wig stand and place the wig on it and let it dry. Meanwhile, wash your scalp and your existing hair to get rid of the dirt and the oils to not accumulate on the wig's lace.
A few words of caution while washing the full lace wig and lace front wigs. Do not apply shampoo directly on the wigs while washing. Use only cold water to clean them; else, you might damage the texture and the styles. Comb gently so that the strands do not damage or fall off and the wigs have uneven hair or lengths.
Styling the wigs- While you wear a full lace wig or a lace front wig, the beauty of the wig lies in the way you style it. Therefore, using a conditioner after shampooing the wig can enhance the hair strands' management in an organized manner. Applying a leave-in conditioner or an anti- fizz cream after the wig is almost dry and setting the hair with a roller is a part of a wig – caring.
One can use their fingertips or a wide-tooth comb for untangling the hair. A Velcro or hot roller helps in setting the hair in the desired style. Sometimes using a blow dryer or a flat iron is necessary to get the curls or straighten the strands. One can also apply mousse, any other styling products, or gels to get the desired style.
However, another word of caution for styling the wig is to avoid blow dryers or flat iron if the wig is made of synthetic material and not from human hair.
For wigs made from human hair that are curly, use a wig comb or your fingertips to brush and get the desired style. Again brush out the comb for long or straight strands of the human hair wigs to avoid fizzing. Always comb the wig gently so that it does not fall apart.
Storage care:
- When you do not use the wigs, store them in a cool and dry place.
- Use a wig stand to not stretch in a different direction but remains in the proper skull shape.
- Cover the wig with a hairnet to prevent the accumulation of dust and other debris.
If you are carrying the wig with you, store it in a box and do not fold it.
