It is the most preferred category of hair for quality-conscious customers. Let us understand what raw hair in the Indian context means:
What is Raw Indian Hair?
Raw Indian hair is unprocessed, untouched hair donated in the hair temples of South India as a part of religious sacrifice. It’s cleaned, sanitized, and wefted once collected and packaged to be sold. It looks extremely gorgeous and a few bundles are enough to style your hair in a variety of ways. It is also highly versatile. Using a flat iron, it can be made silky straight. Co-wash it and it air dry and you will have beautiful ringlet curls. Raw Indian hair is also a long-term investment.
Knockout Virgin Hair offers the best quality raw and virgin human hair extensions. Our raw hair is unprocessed and available in many different patterns. To properly care for your raw hair, here are some of the best tips that you can follow:
Cleanliness:
Shampoo and condition your raw hair using lukewarm water weekly. Doing so will prevent sweat and dirt from building up in your tresses and also prevents tangling. Post cleansing, apply some leave-in conditioner at the ends and work it upwards towards the roots.
Detangling:
Just like you comb your natural hair, it’s important to gently comb raw hair as well after each wash every day. It is suggested to begin at the roots and work all the way up, one part at a time, to the roots. Keep the hair moist with the help of a spray bottle to ease out the process and minimize breakage.
Drying:
Hair extensions must be left to air dry. However, if using a blow-dryer is required, keep the dryer setting on cool. The heat from the blow dryer can cause damage to your extensions and negatively impact its durability. The hair must be sectioned neatly to prevent tangling while air drying.
Avoiding Dry Ends:
Once your hair extension is neat and clean after a wash, a light serum can be used on it to combat heat damage and spilt ends. It also leaves your hair with a voluminous shine. It works like a protective coat on hair and prevents water from evaporating, thereby keeping the hair soft, hydrated, and healthy.
Let’s look at some of the do’s and don’ts while caring for raw hair:
Do's
Co-wash before the first wear
Shampoo & condition every week
Whenever possible, sleep on a satin pillowcase or use satin/silk bonnet
Comb the hair regularly
Braid the hair into a ponytail for bed
Don'ts
Do not blow-dry on a high heat setting
Do not sleep on wet hair
Do not use heavy leave-in conditioners
Extra Advice:
Although minimal shedding is pretty normal, there are certain steps that can be taken to shield the longevity of your investment. It is recommended to go for weft sealing prior to the installation of your hair extensions to protect your weft. Never sew through the top of your weft as using a needle through it will damage it and cause shedding. You can sew around the wefts to keep them in good condition. Also, apply a sealant to reinforce the weft.
